I love to read children's books. Here are some that I would highly recommend:

The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

Becoming Naomi Leon by Pam Munoz Ryan

Fifth grader, Naomi Soledad Leon Outlaw and her brother, Owen, live in a trailer park with their grandmother. When Naomi's irresponsible mother returns to claim her, Gram takes the children to Oaxaca, Mexico, to find their father. This is a touching story of family and loyalty.

No Talking by Andrew Clements

Free Baseball by Sue Corbett

Pieces of Georgia by Jen Bryant

Georgia McCoy is an artist like her mother was...when she was still alive. For her thirteenth birthday Georgia receives a membership to the Brandywine River Museum from an anonymous gift giver. This novel, told in poems, is the story of a broken family putting the pieces of their life together again.
